In a move some have called "daring" and others have called "a show on Friday evening and one on Saturday Evening", Los Capitanes will be returning to Melbourne (also Melbourne-Town) on Friday.
On Friday, we're playing at the Espy in a super awesome lineup that also features the well noted Mach Pelican and the even weller noted Porkers. Among Many Others. The show literally goes all night and sounds insanely super awesome.
On Saturday, there is an all ages festival happening at Mooroolbark Community Centre that ALSO features us, the Los Capitanes, Mach Pelican and the Porkers. It's all organised by the government and stuff and has 1000 bands so I think it'll be MORE THAN JUST YOUR AVERAGE ALL AGES SHOW.
Anyway, we look forward to meeting a whole lot more awesome Melbourne people and I hope that if you are an awesome Melbourne person, you will want to meet us too.

Moruya Riverfest Saturday!
If you live in Moruya, or if you live near Moruya, or if you don't live near Moruya like us but have car or a hovercraft or a jetpack or something, you should come to Riverfest. NOT JUST, to see us although we'd like that, but to see a bunch of other super awesome bands like the Super Best Friends and Unpaid Debt.
The details are, I don't know the details, but I know it is on Saturday and we are playing at 12:40pm. SBF are at 3:40 and there are literally one million other bands playing. Rock.

Speaking of which, the all ages show right in the centre of Newcastle was one of the coolest shows I've been to in ages, big shoutouts to Emma and the other organisers as well as The Porkers and all the other awesome bands. And thankyou, musically-inclined residents of Newcastle, we can't wait to play more all ages shows and see you all again.
A "laid-back, toned-down, intimate atmosphere" show with the Casino Rumblers rounded off the night and we got a rare glimpse of the local Rockabilly and Punk population venturing out into the dimly lit Lucky Country dancefloor.
I don't know if you saw or not, but at Stonefest, Kieran pulled out his super-secret-special-going-off-fatality-finishing move. We like to call it "tidying up the walrus", but you can check out the picture above and come to your own conclusion.
Photo was by our good friend Mitch McPherson who kindly donated of awesome photos he snapped at Stonefest, check out his other awesome photos of local shows at:

Friday Show = Awesome

We had so much fun on Friday, we decided to celebrate with a hoody-rain-barbeque. In the words of Rob: "Oh yeah." In the words of Julian "*thrust*".
Thank you to all the all-ages boys and girls who rocked out at the UCU bar on Friday - and by that I mean thankyou everybody for coming. We had a blast playing alongside Hancock Basement and the superlative Casual Projects but were literally (figuratively) blown away by Melbourne's De Jah Groove, those classic ska stylin's were truly radtacular.
WELL NOW THEN. It looks like we have *another* gig this thursday! Unfortunately for all youse underage ska-lovers it's 18+ this time, but I'm sure you'll be raring to sit outside and listen anyway when you hear that Sydney's premier punkwithhorns outfit Bagster and Melbourne's double shot espresso Mr. Coffee are gonna be shaking Canberra's ska scene at the Basement in Belconnen this thursday night. Be there or die!

September - happens to have a lot of gigs.
Scientitions predict a sharp upturn in the number of gigs we have in September. Very much so, yes.
SO, let me take you on a trip into the future as it were. Together with those funky latin jazz crazy hiphoppy fusion guys Casual Projects, the massive All Ages Anonymous festival is entering your sign.
Maybe I have my analogies confused. But I can certainly see a strong indication that you will be there. Enjoying yourself a lot.
Also look out for: Bagster in Belconnen - Sequel to the blockbuster family hit, Havoc 2 at Greenroom with Lamexcuse and (very exciting) Mach Pelican all ages show at Woden Youth Centre on October 6.
(Well well well, I was just about to update the site but Chuck flippin beat me to it. Well done ol' chum, truly I have been bested-Tim)

Name Change: Cuddle-bear and the Softies
That's right, just when you thought we were getting a little bit hardcore, a "light" gigging schedule has caused several Los Capitanes members to fall ill simulataneously forcing us to cancel today's awesome gig at the Greenroom.
Go anyway though, it's gonna be super-awesome-core.
Anyway, henceforth we will be known as Cuddle-bear and the Softies. Expect a new website design soon, featuring pastel pink and blue and a striking cloud and pillow motif. Dave went and bought one of those heart shaped guitars, Chuck has invested in padded safety congas and both Julian and Rob have pre-recorded their parts in a (luckily already padded) studio and will be replace by a tape on stage since their mothers learned how dangerous gigs *really* can be from Today Tonight.
BTW, Tim is Cuddle-bear.
Also, we've played some pretty crazy gigs over the past couple of weeks. Envy Parade and Super Best Friends as well as our caring buddies Strong Like Sam are all awesome. Also, congratulations are in order for Seditious Intent on their radness and for launching an EP, go check all these bands out on myspace right now.

Are there any shows soon?
Yes! There are!
If you're over 18, or bold enough to try to get in anyway, and live in Sydney, you have no excuse not to attend our very own CD Launch show this friday at the Empire Hotel, helping out will be our good friends the Casino Rumblers, Ebola Goldfish and Steppin Razor.
On the very next night we will be having our long overdue debut show in Queanbeyan with Melbourne's favourite angry-minor-ska enthusiasts, Sounds Like Chicken. Head on down to the Queanbeyan Concference Centre for a super-great show this Saturday.
In other news myspace is still going spastic after Strong Like Sam. Thanks to all youse kids for supporting local music!

Oh yeah, I guess the gig tonight will go ok. I mean. They have sold a million tickets.
Yes. One Million. The big one oh oh oh oh oh oh. That's how many tickets have been sold for the gig tonight. Rest assured that photos and awesomeness will be directed towards the internet as they become available.
If you hate everybody who's going tonight and hence cannot attend, or simply did not get a ticket, remember that Saturday with Strong Like Sam at the Sgreenroom will rock as hard - if not harder.

Is it warm in QLD? It's war*mer*...

As anybody in our great pointy north-pointing state (with palm trees) will know Los Cap will be making a triumphant return to the Coolangatta Hotel this weekend, in amongst a romp of Brisbane, the scale of which could be not unreasonably described as "two other shows, one at the Jubilee Hotel - Brisbane and an instore appearance at Skinny's Records".
Those plain words would, however, fail to do justice to the obscene amount of fun that we are preparing to have as we return to the site of "possibly the loudest, brightest, most confusingly porky show ever."
Poster above... and now - Some more talking!
Once upon a time we were in high-school, and when we organised a show, it wasn't just another show, it was like some kind of really important-don't-screw-up-cool-thing. I had forgotten this until I went to Ska-Wars and remembered how awesome a gig you can make with an all-ages crowd. The bands were awesome and the crowd rocked out like never before. Well done organising dudes - it was super-rad.
Don't forget to say "hello" and "you suck" at the myspace site and check out 1000 new gigs.

New Photos? Pete's Birthday? Porkers Return?
Friday night at the annadale saw the triumphant return of everybody's favourite rockin' ska band, The Porkers. With Pete Porker celebrating his birthday, The Porkers were accompanied by Newcastle's Pornskas, Melbourne/Japan's Mach Pelican, and yours truly.
It was an amazing night and Pete ought to be congratulated for putting it all together. I hope you can all join me in giving him permission to enter into some severe self-back-patting action the likes of which the world has never seen and may never see again.
In other news, the los cap merch has expanded it's business with heaps more t-shirts, heaps of No Fun Intended and free sample cds (yes! free! as good or better than cheap!). Make sure to check it out here on the web or at a show!
Remember to visit the myspace site as well! It's pretty rocking and you can meet all kinds of crazy kids and be friends and send each other bulletins etc etc.
Also, photos have been a bit slow lately here on the web, but we're experimenting with a new system over at flickr. You can see the photos here or check out the badge below!

Brew. haha?

Brewhaha.
Laughable beer or Sydney Youth Festival? Well according to the Ashfield council it's a festival in Ashfield and according to us we played at it with gnarly pyschobilly zombie type guys Zombie Ghost Train. The venue was a dusty dust filled bowl of dust, a fact which didn't escape one particularly astute onlooker who dubbed it "Fairly dusty". Despite the dust the crowd skanked verily and a tip top time was had by all. The fitness can be witnessed in a photographic form above...

CD Launched? Awesome crowd? Gig shut down?
These are questions you may well want to ask, but before you do let me assure you that the answer to all of them is yes.
Friday was absurdly awesome for all concerned. Thanks must be scooped up and thrown out to The Gingers, Strong Like Sam and DJ Scroll who rocked out most assiduously; Porker Pete, Tara and Drew who braved the ravenous crowd to appear as special guests; Gibson, Harri, Sophie, Fred and Hayley who put the 'door' in door-bitch and the 'merch' in merch-slut (no inuendo intended *overthetoplaugh*); the mega awesome sound dudes who kept the PA going when the man tried to shut it down and the bouncers who kept everybody chilled and safe.
Maybe I'm forgetting somebody...

Oh yeah... the hundreds of screaming fans. You guys were pretty good too. Whatever.
In other news, there are photos of St. Claires show below, millions of photos + videos of the launch coming soon, a whole new line of merch as seen on friday night etc etc. Cool things, check it out.

Some t-shirts are sold out. Some aren't.
Due to popular demand we've sold out of large girls and small boys.
...t-shirts, that is!
We have ordered new stock but unfortunately it won't be available until March 30th. At that time we'll also have a couple more choices for colours and styles, so if you want to order one, it might be better to wait until the CD launch on Friday the 31st. At Holy Grail.
If you've ordered a t-shirt in one of these sizes, you can wait for us to email you or get in contact with us at band@loscapitanes.net and Nick our drum-playing-merch-selling-guy will keep you posted about the next shipment.
Thanks to the rad fans that rocked out at bundah last week, you guys the the most awesomest guys that we ever called awesome guys. Awesome.

On a more serious note, we'll be doing a bit of non-guerilla marketing by playing at Narrabundah College at lunchtime on this Friday the 10th of March, and again at the all ages indyfest on the 18th of March at Greenroom. Check out www.indyfest.com for details about that and keep up to date with the gigs page for info about more upcoming school shows and the CD launch.

For untold ages, mankind has toiled, searching for the ultimate music, the album that will free us from the doldrums of our everyday lives, the last album to end all albums.
** insert inappropriate music **
But while you're searching, totally check out some track-olas from the new Los Cap Album! Yes, you read me correctly, starting yesterday a special sneak preview of No Fun Intended is available in the tunes section in mp3 format. We hope you all enjoy it and get totally super-psyched for a bunch of upcoming shows including a massive CD launch.

Gig! Thursday 5:00, Street Theatre! Totally be there!
Recently, word on the street has been that Los Cap will never ever play any more gigs ever again. Ever. But that word was spelt incorrectly and should have read "Los Cap will play more gigs ever again. Ever. But they won't say until two days before."
Yes, it's true, this Thursday, 5:00 at the Street Theatre there will be a friendly Battle of the Band featuring local bands like Dahahoo Marco Polo and Los Cap.
Events to determine which band is in fact "The Most Band-like" include tests of Strength, Wits, Determination and Dignity. We thought we might at least do well in Dignity but then we remembered who our bass player was.
To further encourage all youse kids out there to rock up to rock out to Canberras best, I offer these crazy pictures of Ju and Rob in the studio mere weeks ago.

New Album... Oh yes, she will be mine.
Here's a joke:
Why did Los Cap not have any gigs in January?
..
...
..
Because they were working on an album!
Hahahahaha.
No really, we are. After an intense two weeks in sydney with 12-14 hour sessions every day we've finished most of the recording. During February, we'll be mixing and finalising the cover art etc hoping for a final release date in... well, I think you can probably trust us to let you know.
In the mean time... checkoutphotos.

After jetty jumping, Porker supporting, road tripping, beach sleeping, water swimming, music making and rad time having Los Cap has finally returned to the big C for a well earned couple of days vague relaxation before going to Sydney to record a massively awesome album.
Tim is better at giving thanks to everybody than me but I can't help but thank the all-conquering Porkers - not only rad musicians but awesome guys especially Pete who thought a little band from Canberra was worth a look. Also to the Canberrans who we ran into on the way, and to all the fans of ska and great live music who made the shows the best thing ever.
Here's a couple of quick phone pics. More will follow (Perhaps a bit of a Los Cap Tour Experience Video as well).

Tim - "It's ok, I'll leave after I see these dudes jump off the jetty. And by these dudes I mean Kieran, Ju, Rob and Chuck."

Thoughtful Decor in the band room at Byron's Great Northern Hotel.

Sunrise on Coolangatta beach. Beautiful but by all accounts unwelcome. In fact, given the circumstances, early death was considered a good alternative to facing the ensuing heat, birds, tractors and helicopter.
