When people hear the words Rubix and Cuba they usually think of one thing, the Newcastle ska practitioners Rubix Cuba. Los Capitanes was recently lucky enough to support these likely lads at the Greenroom in Phillip, a venue notorious for the greenness of its rooms and the overall wickedness which it can support within that oh so green room.
The Night started off with a solid tribute to legend and all round dead ska guy Coxsone Dodd, founding member of the Skatalites, the evening later deteriorated into a mixture of new Los Cap tunes, annoying on-stage banter and some gnarly skanking action. (To those of you who braved the insane skanking technique of Giles Nixon and co. we salute you!) Rubix Cuba followed and didn't fail to impress delivering a tight and energetic performance with synchronized stage antics a go-go. Keep and eye for these handsome devils in the near future as they have vowed to return to Canberra, so for those of you who didn't manage to get a copy of their CD at the last gig, you'll have another chance to (You lucky bastards you).
Finally, Los Cap would like to shout out a big thanks man to all who came, especially those who waited around until 'the coast was clear. Of course when I say clear coast I mean that the door was no longer checking ID, keep it up rude boys and rude girls, the Canberra ska scene is counting on you.

So it turns out that we're *not* the only ska band in Canberra. Trust Anton Fricker to wait until we'd made fools of ourselves to tell us he has a ska band too. Thankyou, Anton! A-so, gig this Thursday at the Green Room. Get ready to hear the songs from our upcoming cd "No Butts" as well as a couple of new songs still moist from the air of our south-pacific song-writing sweat-shop.

Check out the tunes section for two songs from our CD compressed into mp3 and ready for you!
