All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth and a ska revival. Don't forget to keep your banana's peeled over these next couple of weeks for details of Los Caps involvement in the Australia Day Festival, The Canberra Show and the Fringe Festival.

19 December, 2004

A massive cheers big nose must be extended to all the scouts who went crazy ape bonkers to all our new tunes on Friday night, we hope youse all had as good a time as we did. Big shout out to Dunc who scored us the gig and also let us use the jumping castle for our sheep experiments.

16 December, 2004

Friday night should be a case of dib dib dib, dub dub dub as Los Capitanes take the stage once again at the mighty Valley Venture. It's been a while since the last Los Capitanes gig, so rest assured this one is gonna go off like a monkey on fire eating gun powder for lunch...at a ska gig. So for all youse Scout dawgs that have been asking me about t-shirts and cd's etc. Los Capitanes will be able to fulfil all/most of your cd/t-shirt related fantasies...

09 December, 2004

Rad-tacular news sports fans! The Porkers WILL be playing an all ages gig when they come down on the 29th. The gig will be at the Greenroom in Phillip in the afternoon, followed by an Over 18s later that night at the same venue. To all the under age rude boys and girls I implore you to see this show. The Porkers very rarely play all ages in Canberra and we had to work especially hard to convince them it'd be worth it. So come along and show your support for aussie ska, your country/Los Capitanes needs YOU.

05 December, 2004

Everyone's favourite mass media 'conglomerate' BMA recently featured a tiny article on Los Capitanes with regards to our recent talks with Statue Records and I figured it is my civic duty to let youse all know what the real deal is. Now I'm assuming that most of you don't care but for the 2% who are curious I'll lay down da fakts: A few weeks ago we were contacted by Statue Records Group, a label based in Hollywood California after they'd heard our tunes on mp3.com. At the moment all we're really discussing is a distribution deal as despite the sweet allure of polluted air, heinous street crime and gangster rap we aren't quite ready to pack up and move to LA just yet. We've currently got a bunch of lawyers looking over their proposal but nothing has been decided as of yet, rest assured to those interested we'll keep you updated on events as they unfold.

20 November, 2004

Word on the street (yo) is that Aussie Ska Icons The Porkers are crackin it on down to Canberra for a wee bit o fun in the sun/rain/overcast with your friendly neighbourhood ska band Los Capitanes* as well as notorious ska dealers Better than a Poke in the Eye. So far the date that we've been given is the 29th of January although that could change so keep your bananas peeled for more info.

*Disclaimer: Los Capitanes does NOT guarantee to be the friendliest ska band in your neighbourhood

Isn't technology tubular? All I know is my gut says maybe. Regardless we now have this multi-rad news list thing, so that whenever something cool just happened or is about to happen we can let you know. Just type your e-mail address into the thingo on the right and we'll keep youse updated on all the latest los cap news plus etc.

15 November, 2004

A big skavoovie must be extended to Better Than a Poke in the Eye who scored second place in the Pot Belly Battle of the Bands. For those of you who didn't catch the show, the skabarians sound was totally 'off da hook', stirring the crowd into a manic skanking frenzy sardine stylee. Punk Rockers/male models Never in Doubt also kicked much ass playing 4 sexcellent crowd pleasers including punk epic 3 Months, a los cap favourite. (You can download it at mp3.com.au) Congrats to Static Empire and all the people who made the grand-final, shout out to Mark and the Potbelly for proving that Canberrans still care about live music. Power to the peaceful.

Where can I buy Los Capitanes merchandise, t-shirts and affiliated los cap paraphernalia? I hear you ask.

No where, you hear me say.

What you can do however, is give us a t-shirt of your own, and we will (free of charge) 'los capinate' it using not the latest screen printing technology. Soon we'll have a selection of genuine Los Cap Wife/Husband Beaters you can choose from so you can proclaim loudly and proudly, "Yeah I'm keen, if it's free".

We're up for printing pretty much anything you want, but here are a few templates you can choose from to save us time:

When the amount of musicians at the venue greatly out numbers the crowd, you know you are in for an interesting night...Los Caps Sunday night gig was a very 'intimate' affair, the majority of the crowd composed of drunken Rubix Cubans and lost circus performers. With a number of a technical glitches and fist full of musical faux pas Los Capitanes failed to bring their A game, luckily the punters who did make the trip still had a wickidy wylie good time. Shout outs go to Courts and Fred/Elizabeth for their tubular crowd participation and awesome-core skanking action. In other news, los cap will be throwin a huge All ages end of school skaBBQ with heaps of cool live music action as well as some yummy burnt sausages, the way momma used to make 'em, so keep your banana's peeled in the next few weeks for details and gig dates.

"Avast land lubbers, ALL AGES gig ahoy!" *spoken in uninspired pirate voice
This Sunday the 7th of November, at the Ground Floor in Belco at 6:00pm. Los Capitanes will be playing some mass freak out tunes with doubtless punk heroes, Never In Doubt, easy targets Easy Target and rubix...cubed Rubix Cuba (Newcastle). Entry is a mere $8 and gets you some of the gnarliest punk and ska action this side of the galaxy/Belco.

Best of luck to all the rude boys and girls sweating it out in exam rooms all over the country, be it HSC, HSV or VHS we know it aint a lot of fun and wish youse all the best in what ever preparation methods you might use be it studying, cheating or some kind of Canadian voodoo.

Meanwhile back at the...web...ranch...page...Los cap will be takin' a short gig break until the HSC is over and out, rest assured we'll be comin back with a whole bunch of crazy new tunes for ya'll as well as a HUGE ska party to celebrate the end of the HSC/BMP or JFK for youse to enjoy. Righteous!

12 October, 2004

A big sloppy dib dib dib to all the peeps and peepettes who came and checked us out at the Cotter Mouth on Saturday night. The skanking was sensational, bordering on romantic with several couples engaging in some hard core tandem-hand-hold-skanking. Los Cap rocked out the dusty big top with ska enigma's 'Better than a Poke in the Eye' and universally remote punk dudes 'Universal Remote'. The sound was sensational with the 3 bands pulling together a scary hybrid of monster speakers and spaceship stylee head units. Also, a big 'cheers big ears' must be extended to event organiser Micko for his efforts and services to ACT ska.

On another more photo related note, the gallery is currently getting a bit of un upgrade, so keep your banana's peeled for some new photos coming to a los cap photo gallery near you...

10 October, 2004

The gig this Saturday night being held at Camp Cotter Mouth will unfortunately not be open to the public. However, we assure you we've got a multitude more gigs to flop out onto you unsuspecting (and in some cases suspecting) rude boys and girls real soon...Scout's Honour...

05 October, 2004

Dawsons Creek Community centre played host to a virtual smorgasbord of punk/ska on Saturday, with a plethora of gnarly local bands doin their 'thang' including: Universal Remote, Easy Target, Lamexcuse, Final Warning and those kooky funsters Never in Doubt. A good night was had by all despite the absence of teen heart throb Stu Cuba and his mega sexy ska gang Rubix Cuba, the extra time giving bands a better chance to show off their talented talents. Once again thanks to all who stayed on through the night and skanked right until the very end, you're easily the fittest bunch of skank enthusiast we've ever seen ever... since Monday.

02 October, 2004

First to answer a few 'FAQs': 1. Yes there are spelling mistakes
2. Yes we do feel like dumb kids
3. No 'Going Aborad' is NOT an Kzsebechisztaznian re-mix of the los cap classic, merely a humorous spelling error.

And now onto to some less frequently asked question which are neither frequently asked nor questions.

1. Come to our gig on Saturday at Weston Creek.

30 September, 2004

Big shout outs to the 500 plus who crammed the Grail on Monday night to witness a live music extravaganza/spectacular, an extraordinarily diverse bunch of musicians rocking up and blowin' the roof clean off the Grail. The los cap launch saw one of the biggest nights the Holy Grail had hosted all year, even eclipsing the Ministry of Sound turnout from the previous Saturday. Thanks to Recipe, Never in Doubt and everyone who came through the door to help create Los Cap history. All in all a night of good dirty, sweaty fun for all involved. Be sure to 'watch this space' (or at least the general vicinity) because we're all multi-mega-keen to get a whole bunch more all ages Los Cap shows crappenin' in the near future. To those of you who came, saw, and kicked much ass, we salute you!

Tonight is gonna be huge.

15 September, 2004

No Longer is the phrase "LOS CAP, NUMBER ONE!" a disgusting misappropriation! As you may have already deduced, los cap has recently moved up to the coveted number 1 position on the www.mp3.com.au ska charts. A big cheers must be extended to all the gnarly nerds who downloaded our stuff and helped kick start the growing los cap ska machine, we love youse all. Now whilst #1 is no mean feat, we're still only 38 on the alternative charts, something we'd like to improve on. So if you'd like to see your friendly neighbourhood ska band smashing it up higher on the alternative charts then keep up with the hard core exploding downloading. On a different note we'd like to thank all the Narrabundarians for having us today at lunch time in the quad. We had a totally rad-core time and really appreciated your support, hopefully we'll see you all again soon at the cd launch.

08 September, 2004

Well we've had a mediocre response to our call for mascots, which is fantastic! Can I extend a big thanksman to all those who've submitted material over the last few days. We'll be putting a few of the MOST rad ones up soon including 'Dead Eye Dick', 'Masco the Mascot', 'Lame Guy', 'Multi-lame guy' and a mysterious mascot (possibly from Guam or China) known only as 'REGGAE?'. Be sure to keep those mascots coming, without one Los Capitanes will be doomed to obscurity and non-mascot...having...ness...

01 September, 2004

Los Capitanes is currently in search of a lovable mascot/lame marketing tool. Due to a lack of imagination and actual creative talent Los Capitanes is challenging YOU to design a Los Capitanes Mascot. The winner will receive 2 free tickets to the CD launch, a bunch of stickers as well as a patented Los Capitanes hand shake. We'll post the best and worst suggestions each week so get crackin', Los Capitanes needs YOU.

26 August, 2004

HOLY GRAIL BATMAN! At long last the Los Cap CD launch has been confirmed. As you might have guessed we are going be holding the launch at the Holy Grail in civic on the 27th of September (First Monday of the school holidays). It's gonna be an ALL AGES event which means y'all can leave your fakies at home. $10 entry gets you a fat slice of some Los Cap action traction for your satisfaction, some wicked-funky hip hop stylee grooves from Canberra rock legends RECIPE as well as notoriously rad punk guys Never In Doubt . As a special treat the first 500 peoples through the door will receive a FREE LOS CAP CD (doesn't get much cheaper than free). So start preparations now, be it saving every penny for Los Cap merchandise or building up your skanking muscles, because when the Launch launches you don't want to be the only kid in town missing out on the greatest live show ever staged in Canberra*

*Los Capitanes opinion only.

17 August, 2004

Ladies and jellybeans (pause for laughs), Los Capitanes will soon be starting a mini-tour throughout Canberra and Queanbeyan's ska starved or (skarved) High-schools and colleges. Make sure you all bug your teachers and tell them we are multi-cool nice guys so they let us play. So keep a keen eye out oppressed students for our seedy propaganda coming to a locker room near you, the los cap revolution is on its way to make your school day a little less shit.

05 August, 2004

Well faithful listeners, after debuting on the mp3.com ska charts at number 9, your friendly neighbourhood ska band has been chosen as feature artist, something which 9 out of 10 nutritionists agree is pretty rad-core. If you want to get some more free Los Cap tracks we've put a few more up on www.mp3.com.au. So download away boys and girls, because every hit counts.

20 July, 2004

When people hear the words Rubix and Cuba they usually think of one thing, the Newcastle ska practitioners Rubix Cuba. Los Capitanes was recently lucky enough to support these likely lads at the Greenroom in Phillip, a venue notorious for the greenness of its rooms and the overall wickedness which it can support within that oh so green room.
The Night started off with a solid tribute to legend and all round dead ska guy Coxsone Dodd, founding member of the Skatalites, the evening later deteriorated into a mixture of new Los Cap tunes, annoying on-stage banter and some gnarly skanking action. (To those of you who braved the insane skanking technique of Giles Nixon and co. we salute you!) Rubix Cuba followed and didn't fail to impress delivering a tight and energetic performance with synchronized stage antics a go-go. Keep and eye for these handsome devils in the near future as they have vowed to return to Canberra, so for those of you who didn't manage to get a copy of their CD at the last gig, you'll have another chance to (You lucky bastards you).
Finally, Los Cap would like to shout out a big thanks man to all who came, especially those who waited around until 'the coast was clear. Of course when I say clear coast I mean that the door was no longer checking ID, keep it up rude boys and rude girls, the Canberra ska scene is counting on you.

03 July, 2004

So it turns out that we're *not* the only ska band in Canberra. Trust Anton Fricker to wait until we'd made fools of ourselves to tell us he has a ska band too. Thankyou, Anton! A-so, gig this Thursday at the Green Room. Get ready to hear the songs from our upcoming cd "No Butts" as well as a couple of new songs still moist from the air of our south-pacific song-writing sweat-shop.

Check out the tunes section for two songs from our CD compressed into mp3 and ready for you!

17 June, 2004

Well there is a gnarly gig coming up at the greenroom which promises to be absolutely tubular. Rubix Cuba the Newcastle ska legends are cracking it on down for some on like donkey kong skanking action as well as a presently unknown headline act.(?) On another note, we here at Los Capitanes have been feeling very lonely as it appears that we are the sole surviving ska band in Canberra. If you are in a ska band, know of one or think that you may have joined a ska band whilst drunk, please e-mail us at band@loscapitanes.net

30 May, 2004

in A.D. 2101, No Butts was beginning...

Los Cap has started recording our new Album "No Butts" at Red Sun Studios. Prepare to get mega-excited because now you'll be able to hear a whole new bunch of tunes and/or songs. Look out for "Finding Emo", "Going Abroad" and "The Hampster Dance". (Hampster Dance not written by Los Capitanes and not included on new CD)

26 May, 2004

What? An issue of BMA? oh... how embarrassing! and they reviewed us too? How embarrassing. "bass lines"? oh yeah, well, they are good if I do say so myself... "punchy brass"? well, right again, "a band to watch out for?" watch out! looks like Los Cap is on some kind of local music radar.

26 April, 2004

Dr. Octopus

Thanks to those who came to our show with Dr. Octopus at the ANU Bar! We'd love to play more for you all but right now we have to knuckle down and practice so that our upcoming album, "No Butts" will be almost lethally awesome.
